Us and them

from Estonian SSR to Estonia

I think Russians are seen as the oppressors and my "wanting the country to themselves" bit is not truly accurate. They don't want Estonia to themselves so much as they don't want to have to share it with historical oppressors, and are therefore oppressing people for what their ancestors and government did.

Two painting projects / First eBay typewriter

The rinsing out actually didn't do much good at all. It's still rather dirty. I definitely don't need to oil it though! I'm guessing that if a true cleaning takes place, the oil will be gone too. Either way, it's not filled with eraser crumbs any more. I did do a thorough soap washing of the exterior panels, especially the ribbon cover to be painted this week.

Underwood and the Golden Touch

I will now be adding a simple grading scale to all my posts about new typewriters. It will judge the touch, print quality, aesthetics, and condition of my example. It will be on a 1-6 scale with 6 being nearly unattainable perfection. My Underwood does suffer on the print quality scale, unfortunately.
[EDIT: I have decided against the grading system because I was not being very accurate at all, eventually lumping all the ratings around 5/6. Therefore all ratings are deleted.]
