  1. IMHO the discreet little metal tags are OK, the larger labels that are garish advertisements should go on the back.

Office machines often have a tag - I suppose because they were serviced by who sold them to you. I have a dust cover that reads "Capitol Business Machines, R. C. Allen typewriters" that's pretty cool.

    1. I've actually had two or three of those back when I still collected standards, definitely the most useful company promotional accessory!

  2. My favorite is when they install it under the glass on the shift key like my Royal Portable.

    1. Absolutely right. I have a Royal KMG at my parents' house with just that. :)

  3. I always feel lucky when I get a good one - especially the gold coloured ones and those that have to be slid on wet rather than self adhesive.

But crikey! The United Office Mach. tag is virtually identical to my spoof typosphere tag.

    1. I believe the Office Mach. tag was a common template, as I've seen them before. (Not necessarily just with that same little association symbol)

    2. That's actually an affiliation tag for NOMDA, who were the dealer's association that compiled the NOMDA age guides. (:

Love the Typewriter Doctors one :D

    3. Nice! I never realised the acronym! (And I've been looking at your NOMDA typeface guides recently so it's fresh in mind)

I loved it enough I had to make it my icon.

  4. Those are beauties. I'm with the rest, when they work they're grand, but when they're grubby illegible half peeled things which haven't faded in time with the paintwork, they are an absolute goat-getter.

    1. Often the ones that are half scraped off on the front of older black enamel typewriters just scare me away from an otherwise wonderful typewriter. I don't want to take the risk of damaging the -right- decals if I want to try to get it off, but it looks so bad where it is!

    1. Not to mention that mischievous typewriter. He looks like he has something nasty in store for those doctors.
