I really do need to write more often, you can see how sloppy I got by the end, my hand was already thoroughly worn out.

Here's a preview of my latest typewriter which is special enough to jump ahead in the the queue to be featured. (look for that post tomorrow or the day after) The green ribbon spool just happened to come along with it.

  1. Good idea! Bill uses those tags at MTE.

  2. I usually mark directly on my cases with a silver pen. Vandalism!

    1. I actually noticed that in one picture you took. XD It actually was kind of nice, honestly.

The tags look nice to me… they seem so orderly and meticulous to the point of silly.

  3. I use a haphazard method for tagging my typers using Post-It label tape. Bits here and there on the case and on the body as well, with notes as i acquire the info - make, model, color, font. Then the SN once i can find the thing, the manufacture date once i get around to looking it up. Then scraps of tape with notes like, "Needs bath!!!" , "ribbon reverse", "back-burner", and rarely, "Exclnt!!!". So in comparison, your label system is not silly at all.

  4. John Lavery has the same system. I find it makes his display look like magnificent museum artefacts.

    1. That's exactly what I have in mind when I look at them, except I see them as a sort of parody because apparently I can't take myself seriously.

  5. I'm seeing more people making the same type of small r that I do in cursive. I like the tags idea.

    1. I was looking at different handwriting styles from different countries about a year ago, and I decided I wanted to switch how I wrote my little r. It's actually not as legible as the normal American way… at the end of words it sometimes looks like an n. But I like how it looks better.

  6. I was playing with the idea of tags but I guess an empty cereal box, scissors and hole punch would do for me - less sophisticated, classy and posh but I'm thinking: cheap! ;)

    1. I saw them at the store and couldn't resist. I have a real problem when it comes to office supplies. XD

  7. Great idea, so the tag and string go through the platen okay!? Typing is neater and easier, unless you're writing a note/letter to someone special, then something hand written is nice because it's really "you"!

    1. You'll notice that when they hang, the text is upside-down, not quite ideal. That's because I roll it through with the non-busy end, type on the top, and then pull it back out again so the string doesn't have to go through.
