Lettera 22's New Colour

1953 Olivetti Lettera 22 178129

I used electrical tape to protect the nameplates

My original photos of this before repainting didn't really show the true colour, so comparing them isn't very useful. Basically, picture the entire typewriter in the tan on the paper table. It's weird that they named the paint 'Italian Olive' because it looks less like an olive and more of a foresty green.

My original Lettera 22 post.
Incidentally, he matches my Hermes 2000 now.

Written with the express approval of my Olivetti Lettera 22

  1. It's a very subtle look. I like it.

  2. A very nice, unassuming color. Also, FANTASTIC typeface on this one. Congressional elite or congressional pica?

    1. Congressional Elite! One of my very favourite typefaces.

  3. Nice, tasteful color.

I find it almost impossible to avoid getting a little grit in the paint when I repaint a machine. I suppose one needs a special dustproof area. But then the fumes build up ...

  4. Looks like a convincing factory finish - so glad you didn't go for salmon pink - though it would have added hundreds to the value :-)

    1. It's not a bad finish, though with the photos it's difficult to tell that the clearcoat is sometimes a bit rough.

Haha, oh the people who spend $300 on a pink typewriter because it's pink, not because it's a typewriter... or as apparently in Australia all you have to do is put funky atomic in the title to get a good showing of bids.

    1. Thanks! And it honestly turned out every bit as attractive as I'd hoped!
