A bus was stuck in the snow outside my apartment

The most prevalent activity that night was taking pictures of a bus.

Unfortunately the snow has mostly melted now and the roads are all safe.

Musical Corona / Durez plastic typewriter

This interesting music/typewriter themed display was in one of the rotating display windows near a theater in Tacoma a little while ago. (not sure if they are associated) I'm going to guess that they didn't type all of this sheet music on the Corona.

This futuristic Durez plastic typewriter is just funny. Look at the keyboard! Sorry I couldn't find better resolution, but this was the only scan of it I could find. You can buy it, on eBay, if you wanted. It's overpriced though. XD

Art Gothic Scout

1932 Remie Scout S21913

Does anybody know why there is a period/full stop after Model? Or why they said "Model" at all? Is it technically a "Remington Remie Scout Model."? If it is, that is probably the most weirdly formatted name for a typewriter.

What my handwriting actually looks like

I learned handwriting with a modified Palmer method because I was homeschooled, so I actually learned proper cursive. I lament its demise in the schools...

Unfortunately this pencil is no longer manufactured. I "borrowed" it from the supply of pencils where I worked two years ago and apparently they stopped making them soon after. Good thing I did.

More scrawling from my hand

The designs made by blowing on a blotch of ink on paper remind me of highways radiating from a large city.

I forgot to mention that I was having trouble with my Zebra stainless steel ballpoint skipping, as well as just about every other ballpoint pen I use, which partly prompted me to buy a blue extra-fine point Lamy Safari. The other reason was I wanted a more practical way to write in style than my dip pen. Which is not practical at all.

My writing is much less sloppy with a felt tip pen though. It actually looks rather consistent and nice. But still not as fun… hopefully a fountain pen will meet somewhere between the two.

Pencast with my Hunt nib and Daniel Smith walnut ink.

Superior rotary printing press (with video)

Click to watch video

I found this Superior Ace printing press in unused condition; it had never been inked. Amazingly, the bottle of ink was still good! If you're older, you might remember these from your childhood as tedious, messy machines. They are both of those things. But fun anyway… W and I printed out a pair of poems that I wrote in 2012.

These weren't supplied with very many pieces of rubber type—in order to print the second poem, I had to borrow a few esses from the first, removed as you can see in the picture above. The press came with all of the original books and tools. Apparently you could order other typefaces for it…shame I can't send off for them at $1 each set today!
