Yellow Escort

1972 Montgomery Ward Escort 55 6612422

I think the problem with the Sears Courier was that it was made in Mexico instead of Italy or Spain. This Escort was built in Spain. (Shame it was never a standard Olivetti offering) Which makes me think that the Courier could have actually been made after this even though it was based on a much older design...

  1. Excellent find. I'm totally happy with my Escort 55. Beautiful design, down to the case, and I love the Lettera 32 mechanism.

  2. It's a stunner. I like the typeface too. Very cheerful typewriter.

    1. It's about as cheerful as they come, so light and happy and script.

  4. Oh, I love those white keys and the swooping lines of the design. I have never seen one quite like it before.

    1. As far as I know, and I may be wrong, the white square flat keys were only found on Olivetti rebrandings.

  5. Pretty snazzy!

    I would try super glue.

    1. I've tried that and the normal thin glue but it's far too viscous. I just remembered now that at hobby shops you can get different thicknesses of super glue…I think the thick gel ought to do the trick.

  6. An edible typewriter! I used little ball of Blu-Tak to fix a logo on. It isn't permanent, but might as well be.
