Blog Post 100 Comes Not From A Typewriter

Typed on my IBM Thinkpad 385ED with MS Word 95, copied the screenshot into Photoshop 3.0, sent to 1.44MB floppy disk, copied from that and uploaded to Blogger via my IBM Thinkpad 600X.

This is my 100th blog post, and I have 24 followers and over 7,000 pageviews! I've been working at this since February.

  1. Great job! We will all keep reading as long as you keep posting; you put a lot of effort into your blog and it shows :-)

I dabbled in not-so-vintage technology some years back, mostly old PDAs that I thought seemed like a good idea because they were finally affordable for me (a decade after their release) and it was fun for a while. That screen capture brings back good memories of Windows 95... especially sneaking in games of Prince of Persia at the computer lab in my high school :)

  2. Congratulations on no. 100!

I'm glad that you're giving NaNoWriMo a try. Just remember, send your Inner Editor on vacation for a month. The guy needs to go relax in the Bahamas. Meanwhile, you will produce gloriously unedited prose. Bad prose almost by definition, but so what? It will be fun. At least that is the attitude that allowed me to write my own 50,000 words of bad prose last year.

  3. Now, for real retro, give up Word and try a real word processor like, Ami Pro, Word Star 2000, or even Word Perfect!!

  4. Ami Pro! That's the one.. Also WordPerfect.
However you can lay down the 0k is legit. But the Kmart 100 will pout - he did a lot of pages last November.

  5. Congratulations on the 100th post and bringing relic electronics back to life. That should be a great word burner. I have to admit nerding out on all of the file export steps.

  6. OMG, your computer looks so old and brings memories back of my Windows 98. You have at least tried out and/or used a Windows XP/7/etc... before, right? *hugs*
