The typewriter that won't leave

1978 Olympia B12 6000215

Compare the off-white back with the very yellow front.

Hard to believe I've had this for 8 years. Kind of frightening, actually. I don't think I'm that old!

I was eager to experience the wonders of Olympia, but I didn't know at the time what this really was. I think I might eventually do a few other feature posts on some of the typewriters I had collected before I began typecasting. But it's not like I don't have a lack of topics…aside from new typewriter features I have a list of 5 fairly interesting items to write on.

Making the most of the Triumph/Adler

I fear this isn't quite as useful as the BBC's excellent program Making the Most of the Micro, though.

I've created a new header, change the blue to orange, and also officially made the title all with small letters. I've been getting more and more spam comments that I've had to filter out, so I may have to start using captchas but I'm going to hold out against doing so as long as I can.

[EDIT] I have changed the settings to only accept comments from non-anonymous users.

Союз авторучка / Soyuz fountain pen

From what I can tell, this pen was two steps up from a cheap school pen and two steps down from the most expensive pens that I'm assuming only party members would usually have. (or if I'm overcomplicating things, the middle pen of a range of 3) Being made in the USSR, the "brand name" isn't particularly important. This doesn't say "Союз" anywhere on it. In fact, there are no letters on it at all. As with all pens, it ought to get even better to use over time as it adjusts to my hand. The nib is fairly broad and there is a little bit of flex to it, though it's not obvious when writing because the variation of the line is so slight.

Written with my new Союз fountain pen.

For sale: one of two known Jolson Almas

I promise I'm not turning my blog into a typewriter marketplace. XD
This will be the last "typewriter for sale" post for a while.
I've just been in a rather clearing-out sort of mood lately.

Richard Polt owns the other one, seen here
