Eugene Onegin takes flight

packed up and ready to go—bundled up inside the box of course, since it's almost winter

his travels so far—where to next?

my addition to his log

I added a bunch of international stamps I've collected, mostly former USSR, to his little envelope

Success and failure / Loose ends

I don't think I ever showed here on my blog the before and after pictures for my Erika 5 Tab. Not all the blotchy weird stuff on the paint came off with cleaning, it took the rubbing of oil into the paint to bring it back looking great. I'm not sure why oil works so well on washed-out looking black paint, but it does.

*Not that the cheap nylon ribbons I buy work with 95% of my typewriters

Erika 5 Tab

1939 Erika 5 Tab 773804/5

In all the excitement, I forgot to mention that the print quality is among the very best of all portables of any era, partly due to the surprisingly nice platen. The case is probably my favorite of any typewriter as well. The base is detachable and the typewriter's feet pop into 4 pegs on the base without any need for screws or latches.
